It is no wonder that several people agree that BTC is the major force behind the sector's advancement toward the general public.
Yet many experts are against this opinion. Roger Ver is one of them. According to him, Ethereum price, instead of Bitcoin, will drive the most new users to cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum: Greater Adoption Potential Than Bitcoin?
Roger Ver is a major player within the community of cryptocurrency users. He has been in the business since Bitcoin's infancy and has also seen Bitcoin Cash's ascent. He also goes by the moniker "Bitcoin Jesus" due to his early defense of Bitcoin's potential.
So seeing someone of such notoriety claim that Ethereum, not Bitcoin, will drive most new users to cryptocurrencies has caused enough confusion in the crypto space.
It was in an episode of the podcast Show Me The Crypto broadcast on May 31 that Roger Ver made these remarks. He stated :
Despite the scaling issues that Ethereum is currently suffering from, its ecosystem is still where the action takes place within the crypto industry.
For the expert, even though Ethereum cannot compete with the market capitalization of Bitcoin, the ETH token remains the leader in terms of adoption globally.
He also took the show to praise the continued development of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains and the establishment of Layer 2 scaling solutions such as Polygon. These are intended to help distribute some of the load on the main chain.
According to Roger Ver, the beginnings of Ethereum
Ver discussed the events that led to the development of the Ethereum blockchain in the episode. He claimed that during the early stages of the cryptocurrency, Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum and the creator of the Bitcoin core, engaged in combat.
Although Roger Ver remains confident about the future of Ethereum, he has a lot of detractors right now. Indeed, during January, the crypto expert had lawsuits from the crypto lending company Genesis which accused him of not having paid approximately 20.8 million dollars of unsettled cryptocurrency options.
In response to these allegations, he posted a message from his Reddit account where he claimed to have sufficient funds to pay the amount owed. However, he also clarified that since Genesis was no longer solvent, fulfilling its part of the contract was not legally necessary.
